Not sure if you saw Mary queen of shops this week? I think she is great! I really like her style! Essentially she transformed the business model of an out of date hair dresser in the North of England. Her no BS approach means her clients get a frank assessment of where they stand in ‘their’ market place!
Mary Portas is a retail marketing consultant, who visits businesses and their owners that seem staid and stuck in their ways. She takes a step back from the business in focus and gives a common sense approach to future direction. She focuses on the skills of the business leader/owner/manager/ staff. She highlights (in her unique fashion) the errors and encourages the strengths, making recommendations based successful businesses from the same and other sectors.
The show got me thinking! It would be great to see her visit an estate agency and look at the way that some estate agents deal with their clients? We see a broad range of level of service that agents provide; from agents that treat their customers like royalty to those that rarely deal with requests at all. How do you think Mary would assess your business? Are you getting most things right? Are you really treating your clients in the best possible fashion? Have you become staid or stuck in your ways and your ways of working? Good questions to ask yourself once in a while.
I agree – she is FAB! I think any EA who was brave enough to go before her would profit handsomely!
